Fall Into Change

Fall is a time of change. It’s a time for letting go of things that no longer serve us, while stocking up or increasing those that do. Trees shed their leaves so that they can retain water in the cold weather. Birds fly south because the cold weather doesn’t serve them.  Bears grow a fur coat to keep them warm. Squirrels gather nuts so that they will have food for the winter.

What do you need to shed or let fall away? This could be something you notice on the mat or off the mat. I can be a perfectionist and while it serves me at times, it is something that I can allow to fall away. Negative self-talk is another thing that I can shed. What can I gather or store up?  Affirmations, time for exercise, healthy eating habits, time to relax.

We can start by practicing this on the mat. I don’t have to do every pose perfectly. Getting to a class is exercise. Slowly what we practice on the mat, we can transfer off the mat.
